We have a yahoo group set up as a communication tool for our group. It is primarily for discussion of anything related to homeschooling and our activities. We do require that someone already in the group either know you personally or meet with you OR that you attend one of our monthly gatherings before we email an invitation to the group to you. This is for the protection of our children from people who may not have their best interests in mind. The group is a private, invitation-only discussion list with a lot of wonderful resources for those living here in Southwest Florida. We are not an exclusive group; you can be a part of our group as well as any other support group.

We welcome all homeschooling families, regardless of religious beliefs, educational philosophy, or curriculum method. We have founded this group in the hopes that homeschooling families in SW Florida will feel welcome and encouraged by our support. We are not a leadership-based group run by rigid bylaws. We are all volunteers. We believe this system will enable members to concentrate more fully on their families and give attention to the important matters of homeschooling rather than the politics of a group. We will meet for field trips and association to help support and encourage one another and our children.
We also offer discounted FPEA membership to our members for $18. This makes us an FPEA-recognized support group. Membership in FPEA is not required to be a member of SWFL-HSF. To see the benefits of being an FPEA member, go to

Monthly Gatherings

We have meetings on a monthly basis and try to have them on or around the second Wednesday of the month. We do not have a regular meeting place at the moment. Meeting locations and changes in day or time will be posted on the private yahoogroup each month. If you are interested in visiting  us for a meeting, please call Lynda at 239-352-2002 to get confirmation of the date, time, and place of that meeting.

We will have a different speaker or a topic for each meeting. If you have something you'd like to see at an upcoming meeting, please be sure to let us know.  It is relaxed, informal and for the purpose of associating with other homeschool families, supporting each other, and sharing ideas and materials.  We welcome guests and new members.

Children are not only welcome, they are encouraged to come to these gatherings. We ask that they be respectful of others and of the meeting location.

POTLUCK PICNIC IN THE PARK

September's Meeting will be held on Saturday, September 22nd at Vineyard's Park. We'll be in the pavilion inside the playground from 11:00-1:00 for a potluck picnic to allow new members to get to know the rest of the group. Please feel free to bring a lunch to share and join us. Call Lynda at 239-352-2002 for more details.
